#3 This Week’s Top 5

I am officially back at University and although I may no longer be as fresh as a fresher I’m certainly just as excited! The past week has been a pretty funky one in terms of listening material so here is a roundup of some of my favourites.

Vulfpeck- “Animal Spirits”

With a tonne of groovy, fun and intelligent music making there really is nothing to dislike about Vulfpeck. Filled with great production value and a real feel good quality you simply can’t go wrong, so turn it up and have a dance!

Raleigh Ritchie- “Time in a Tree”

This is a surprising and brilliantly experimental song I have been loving. The use of strings is perfect, lacking the usual tackiness that comes with it and is full of some really beautiful harmonies.

Will Heard- “Naked”

If I was to describe this song in one word it would simply be SEXY. It’s damn smooth and I’m more than a little obsessed with Will Heard’s voice and lyrics. With added touches of gospel and a simple but heavy beat this is a perfect chill song for later in the evenings…

The Nude Party- “Chevrolet Van”

This is actually a recommendation I discovered watching an Arctic Monkeys interview via the musical God that is Alex Turner. This is a great song lyric wise about touring life and an honest portrayal of what it’s like to be in a band. With a super sultry Seventies vibe I have a lot of time for this band.

Larkins- “Something Beautiful”

Oh Larkins, the beautiful love child of Passion Pit and MGMT. A souped up electronic mish mash of psychedelic indie electronica pop this is just a great feel good synthy song, perfect for brightening up a day.
